EU lobbying
An outline of European Union lobbying work
Lobbying the European Union is an important aspect of the work of SKAL, focusing on Community legislation initiatives and general policymaking.
These efforts are directed at the principal Community institutions that formulate proposals and decide on Community policy: the European Commission, the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament.
Over the years SKAL has established an extensive network of contacts, including policymakers and influential officials in various departments of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the official representations of Member States, haulage and logistics sector organisations, and various branches of trade and industry.
SKAL representatives enjoy accredited lobbyist status at the European Parliament, and SKAL is registered as an official lobbying organisation in relations with the European Commission. SKAL is also represented on the EU Liaison Committee of the International Road Transport Union – IRU.
